A Miracle in Stone: Or the Great Pyramid of Egypt - 1877

Author: Joseph Augustus Seiss
Average review score:

Great book, Poor Edition
Having read this excellent work before, I wanted to acquire a fresh copy of it for sharing from my library. Unfortunately, this paperback edition is merely a very poor photocopy (yes, photocopy!) of the small out-of-print paperback edition that I already had. Too bad.

Missing Stories: An Oral History of Ethnic and Minority Groups in Utah
Published in Paperback by Utah State University Press (April, 2000)
Authors: Leslie G. Kelen, Eileen Hallet Stone, and Helen Papanikolas
Average review score:

An invaluable contribution to ethnic American history.
Missing Stories: An Oral History Of Ethnic And Minority Groups In Utah is a unique compendium exploring the rich history of Utah's ethnic and minority groups including Utes, African-Americans, Jews, Chinese, Italians, Japanese, Greeks, and Hispanics. In a preface to each section of oral history interviews, a respected historian of the community introduces the background and heritage of the community, setting the context for the personal recollections that follow. The informative, engaging, at times fascinating text is nicely illustrated with the photography of Kent Miles and George Janecek. Missing Stories is a remarkable, compelling, and invaluable contribution to American ethnic history in general, and the Utah ethnic communities in particular.

Modern Jeweler's Consumer Guide to Colored Gemstones
Published in Paperback by Chapman & Hall (October, 1989)
Authors: David Federman and Timo Hammid
Average review score:

Informative Outlook On Gemstones
This book is very factual, and its non-technical writing, makes it an excellent book for the hobbiest, or collector and yet still it maintains the standards for even the professional gem trade. If used as a guide, it is sure to be helpful in the selection of gems.

This book is certain to educate and inspire the beginner with confidence in starting to collect gems. I highly recommend the reading (purchase) of this book. The photographs are excellent, full color, the true representation of the gemstones' is brought to life.

Charming friendship tales...
I will be happy to recommend the Mole and Shrew books to the kids in my library! It's nice to see good friendship stories for younger kids - something with a little heart (not total fluff). Mole and Shrew are simple, genuine, fun critters, and readers will wish to visit them again and again. Adults will enjoy the "classic" quality of the fine illustrations!

The Most Wonderful Doll in the World
This is a wondeful book for little girls 6-10. The reading level is probably 3rd grade or so, but it is a great story any Mom would enjoy reading outloud. There is a nostalgia there that makes me swear I read it when I was 8. The pictures are beautiful and the story is worth reading many times. My girls love it and my son also listens to it when I read it.
